In mid-2017, good news keeps pouring in Erudition’s digital products: after more than a year's deliberation, Shanghai History Museum recently ordered Database of Chinese Modern Periodicals (ShenBao).

Erudition ShenBao contains the most complete data, which has both the images and transcripts of news and supplements and that of all advertisements, totaling 410,000 pages and 2 billion words. Other companies publish incomplete ShenBao database, with no or only symbolic advertisements, and selected input supplements, displaying separately. This is because they do not have the economic strength and technical ability to produce a complete database. Regrettably, some institutions decide to buy them only because of the cheaper price or discounts of the company's shoddy ShenBao. As a result, the scholars and students of the institutions have to use Erudition ShenBao database privately through various channels or at their own expense. Facts have proved that purchasing inferior digital products will not only be of no help, but also cause the greatest waste of resources. We hope those units can take lessons.
