日前，香港大学下单，购入爱如生中国方志库初集、二集远程版。香港大学今年3月刚刚购买了爱如生晚清民国大报库和中医典海，这是港大今年上半年第二次购买爱如生的数字产品，算上几年前购入的中国基本古籍库，港大拥有的爱如生数字产品已有4个，与香港中文大学比肩。

港大购入爱如生中国方志库初集、二集意义还在于：这是香港第一家购入爱如生中国方志库的学术机构。不久前，香港还有大学在问，中国方志库对于香港有什么用？问的人似乎忘记了，香港地区的大学应当成为世界级的大学，而不是要办成香港一隅的大学。哈佛、牛津等众多世界名校都购买了中国方志库，就是因为他们有着国际学术眼光。希望香港其他大学在数字资源的建设方面也能向港大看齐。

The University of Hong Kong Purchased Database of Chinese Local Records I and II

Recently, the University of Hong Kong placed an order to purchase the remote edition of Database of Chinese Local Records I and II. In March this year, the University of Hong Kong just purchased Erudition Database of Chinese Historical Newspaper (1872-1949) and TCM Dianhai. This is the second time that the University purchased Erudition’s digital products in the first half of this year. Now the University has four Erudition’s digital products, including Database of Chinese Classics Ancient Books purchased several years ago, and it is evenly matched with the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The significance of purchasing Database of Chinese Local Records I and II lies in that it is the first academic institution in Hong Kong to purchase the database. Not long ago, some universities in Hong Kong were asking, what is the use of Database of Chinese Local Records for Hong Kong? The people who asked seemed to forget that the universities in Hong Kong should be world-class ones, not just be famous in Hong Kong. Many world excellent universities, such as Harvard and Oxford, have purchased Database of Chinese Local Records because of international academic perspective. It is hoped that other universities in Hong Kong will be in line with the University of Hong Kong in the construction of digital resources.
